The Frantic Search for Our Beloved Stevie

kccollegegameday.com
We start on our adventure and mystery search for our beloved Stevie in the Library which consists of six unique floors....

We initiate our search for Stevie on the third floor. We are hinted by clue #1 to find the student newspaper named after Stevie on the second floor. So descend down the stairs to the second floor. Our first piece of evidence we discover located in the “current” issues section. We find a picture of three helpless creatures with the phrase “Free the bound Periodicals” We accomplish getting our first letter “F”.

Next, clue #2 informs us about a mysterious vicious shark let loose in the building, which we conclude, might lead us to our next clue. So then we are off! We proceed down another flight of stairs to the first floor towards the museum where the sighting of the shark took place. Unfortunately there is no sign of Stevie. Ah! A paw clue!! We make our way through the museum to check the August J. Schoenebeck bird egg collection as the paw clue hinted to us. We are specifically directed to look for the Pacific Golden Plover egg. The next letter we obtain from the eggs is the letter “A” from the first letter of the homeland of the homesick Pacific Golden Plover, being Alaska.

Following clue #3, we’re off back through the museum; we pass by the Main Service desk and the Ask for Help desk. We are directed to search through the encyclopedias. Back and forth we walk down each row we search frantically. We are in search for The Encyclopedia of the Dog coded as SF 422 F64 1995. Suddenly we stumble along the encyclopedia located near the end of the RC 480 SK33 Section. We rustle through the pages of the book to find the description of the English Pointer. There on pages 186 and 187 we find the depiction of our missing English Pointer Stevie. We then rush to the Reference Librarian. We explain the traumatic disappearance of Stevie to him and them the page numbers of the encyclopedia that describe him. He gives a clue, the letter “V” and recollects seeing him browsing through the CD’s for some long unheard tunes to listen to in the Instructional Material Center (IMC).

So we followed up on clue #4 of Stevie’s last seen whereabouts. So we are off again in a dash! We ride the elevator up to the third floor to find the IMC. We take a left past the Information desk in search for a clue in the CD’s.  Ah! We find another paw clue! All that was scribbled in a hurry was “M 1630.18 R64, look for the first letter of the title, The… ”. The clue must have been written by poor Stevie before being drug away and kidnapped. The cabinet we find crammed packed with tons of CD’s; however there was one CD set out of place. It was the one we were in search for and matched the description left behind perfectly, which we accumulate the letter R” from the title The Rolling Stones.

A stranger came up to us and informed us that they saw the kidnapper. The fifth clue we receive from the stranger described this notorious kidnapper as being a look alike of a well-known famous comedian. However he couldn’t recall the comedians name but a book he wrote with the number range PN 2287 C5 located on the fourth floor above us. We thank him and hustle on our way up the stair to the fourth floor. We take a left into the isles of book but no luck finding PN.  So we go back and take a right, we pass by a small sitting area with a large bay window overseeing the campus and a view of the hospital. We find PN, and then begin to look at 2287 C5. We find many books with the same author, Charlie Chaplin, which helps us obtain the letter “C”.

Suddenly we hear a loud screech echoing through the stairwell from the floor above us! We look at each other anxiously and concerned! One of us says “Could that be Stevie!?” We all ran in a panic up the stairs and rushed by the Archives, a few computer stations and lounge area! We then hear the screech again. This time coming from the other side of the bright green shelving, called our “stacks”. We dashed through the stacks towards the Animal Biochemistry section.  There on the other side we discovered Stevie’s best friend Monkey locked in one of the study cages and chained to barred door. He denounced “Do not help me” and gave us a letter that he said would “help us rescue Stevie before it is too late!” In the letter we were given the letter “H”, and clue #7.

In the letter the clue informed us that the kidnapper was seen on the sixth floor checking out the view of the campus through the grand windows and planning his escape route. On this floor is located the SuDocs call numbers. The letter states that we will need to find a poster that has the call number for publications put out by the Smithsonian Institution. This we will use to indicate the last two missing letters needed to find Stevie. So we take the stairs up to sixth floor, hang a right towards the books and then a left and started searching hysterically for the poster. One of us yelled they found it and we all rushed over by him! We went down the list and found the Smithsonian Institution which gave us the letters “S & I”.

We wracked our brains together to unscramble the letters but couldn’t do so; however, one of us remembered that the letter stated to use the LRC Directory in the elevator to help unscramble the location. So we all rushed to the elevator to the LRC Directory. There we found that the jumbled letters unscrambled to reveal to us Archives. So we took the elevator down to the fifth floor, took a right and ran into the Archives Office. There we found Stevie bound helplessly to a chair in the corner of the room, facing the wall.  We rushed over and spun his chair around, when his eyes laid upon us all, a look of sheer elation swept over his little puppy dog muzzle.
